Executive Dean Chris Cook visits Beijing Jiatong University (BJTU) with whom UOW has a Mechatronic Engineering program with. Professor Xinhua Deng was on hand, former Endeavour Scholar to UOW, to greet Professor Cook, as was the international manager J.J. and other teaching and research staff. Thank you BJTU for hosting Chris, we are so glad that he got an opportunity to meet the students and staff again post the launch of our joint program.
In March 2015, USTB invited UOW's Deputy Vice Chancellor of Strategy, Prof Joe Chicharo to visit USTB on a special week-long list of activities. Instead, executive Dean of EIS and Professor Huijun Li visited USTB for international strategy and collaboration talks among 25 other top universities in the world (by invitation).
USTB's open day coincided with this event and was also a huge success with so much local Beijing talent considering research abroad at UOW! We welcome students to apply and come to beautiful Wollongong!
To all the brilliant women I met at this wonderful event in Hyderabad, India, I thank you for your encouragement! Charles Sturt University and the SVP NPA Police Academy, thank you for all the effort you put into hosting this event with women from 24 countries. What a privilege to be there.
My favourite program was the "She Team" program, which is about speaking up about violence against women. The program is grass-roots and it works. Women should feel safe wherever they are.
My main point at this conference was that technology is only ever a partial solution to security problems. The other part is the human part...
