Recent and widely publicized hacking experiments (see links below) constitute timely reminders of the urgent necessity to assess the future of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) not only from a myopic technological standpoint but also from legal, ethical and societal perspectives. Any exciting and promising innovation attracts its dark swans, ITS won't be an exception. Refusing to face the reality might lead to severe consequences.
Robert is a Data Analyst (Associate Research Fellow) at SMART Infrastructure Facility.
Before joining SMART, Robert worked in the IT industry and also in the banking industry. His motivation in research is driven by a strong desire to apply ICT in promoting the security and safety of people and the infrastructure on which they depend. He also possesses a secondary interest, to deeply understand and enlighten society on how the use of ICT threatens the security and safety of people and the infrastructure on which they depend.
He has recently developed a spatio-topological model of hydrological infrastructure network, which has huge potential to be used as decision support tool for mitigating the impact of flooding on people and infrastructure in coastal mega-cities around the world.
