?UOW's Centre for Medical Radiation Physics (CMRP) continues to develop its international reputation. Last week CMRP hosted the 3rd Geant4 School and Monte Carlo Workshop for Medical Physics Applications (http://eis.uow.edu.au/cmrp/workshops-seminars/UOW204211.html). A report on this event can be found in http://www.uoweis.co/3rd-geant4-school-hosted-uow/ At this year's event at UOW the presence of national and international experts increased considerably by about 30%. There were around 80 participants, coming as far as US, Canada and Europe (Italy, France, Germany, England, North Ireland) but also from Australia, New Zealand, China, South Korea, Japan and Malaysia. The quality of the scientific presentations was very high with talks spanning from basic physics to clinical medical physics applications of Monte Carlo simulation tools. The event was organised by Dr Susanna Guatelli and Dr Dean Cutajar, with the support of Distinguished Professor Anatoly Rosenfeld, Professor Peter Metcalfe and Associate Professor Michael Lerch, Karen Ford from CMRP, and support from Faculty staff for web sites and event organisation . The School was also endorsed by the Australasian College of Physical Scientists & Engineers in Medicine (ACPSEM) thanks to the support of Prof. Peter Metcalfe and for the first time, selected presenters at the meeting will have the opportunity to publish their work on a Special Issue of the Physica Medica journal, dedicated to the Monte Carlo Workshop. Congratulations to CMRP for this contribution to the 'top 1%'!
