Dr Gunasilan currently teaches the Bachelor of Information Technology in Management Information Systems and Masters of Information Technology Management programs. She prides herself on her teaching flair, and has produced research papers on the teaching of programming to Middle Eastern students, which was awarded the best paper accolade when she presented it at an international forum in Rome.
A close relationship with industry partners is essential to Dr Gunasilian's research. In the last decade she has developed an ongoing affiliation with the Malaysian Ministry of Forestry to explore how landslides can be detected, the Ministry of Science and Technology and Innovation, the Malaysian National IPv6 Advanced Centre to discover how information could be reengineered for Internet Protocol version 6 tunnelling and Lloyd’s Bank of London, to research the information deconstruction within a banking day. In the Middle East, she has worked very closely with UAE local service provider Du and their associate franchisees, investigating CRM and information flow. She has also managed consultancy projects on information flow and customer relationship entities for Dubai Airports, JAFZA and Dubai World Trade Centre.
