Dr Mohamed Fareq Abdul Malek is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences at UOWD. Dr Mohamed received his B.Eng. (Hons.) in Electronic and Communication Engineering from The University of Birmingham, UK. Subsequently he obtained MSc (Eng.) in Microelectronic Systems and Telecommunications (with Distinction) and PhD in Electrical Engineering (Applied Electromagnetic) from The University of Liverpool, UK.
At UOWD he teaches a broad range of engineering courses including Network Engineering, Foundation Mathematics, Strategic Network Management, Engineering Design for Sustainability, Wireless Communication Systems, Essentials of Engineering Mathematics and Power Engineering.
Before he joined UOWD, he worked for Universiti Malaysia Perlis. Prior to this, he held industry positions for five years with Alcatel Malaysia and Siemens Malaysia. At Alcatel, he worked in the Asia Pacific Regional Centre of Competence, specialising in mobile radio network design. At Siemens, he worked in the Information and Communication Mobile division, where he developed the mobile strategy for the Malaysia market.
